Not Solely to Learn, But Have FUN!

The Language Carnival 2012 was officially launched by our beloved principal, Pn Hajjah Jamiaah binti Kechut on Tuesday, 3^rd April 2012. The head of Language department, Pn Jalinawaty binti Abdul Jalil had announced the activities which would be held by 5 language panels such as Malay,English, Chinese, Tamil and Arabic during the language carnival .

In conjunction with the Language Carnival, the English panel also planned many interesting activities such as below :

During the launching ceremony, we had performances from most of the Form 2 students who performed Bahasa Berirama (a Malay version of choral speaking) which was something new to everyone in the school. After that, we had a speech presentation from Nurul Adhwa binti Yusran  from 5 SN2. She has the talent and potential of being a good public speaker and a debater. Next, we had performances from 1KAA which performed 'nasyid' entitled 'The Animals in the Zoo'. Well, everybody really did enjoy the performance and it was really fun as it never failed to put a smile on everyone's faces.

                Hopefully, all of the students will take part actively in the competition organized by the English and other panels.

This year 2012 will be the fourth year the English panel will take part in writing and producing the 3-page mini magazine. It is initiated by The Star-NIE and Pizza Hut, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. The steps which will be taken by the contest coordinator, Puan Jalinawaty binti Abdul Jalil are:

“The Star” to Reach and Pizzas to Eat!

On 29 March 2012, 3 students from 4 Science 1, Nafatila Binti Abdul Halim, Nurafifah Binti Mohamad and Nur Amira Binti Lokman attended the workshop organized by The Star for the Mag Inc Competition 2012.

The workshop was held at the Olympia College, Johor Bahru. The students learned how to write good articles and viewed some good layouts from the winners. 

 

Other than great experience the participant will get a golden opportunity to grab a pizza for FREE! One pizza for each after submitting a 3 pages magazine. This is our 4^th year taking part in the competition and last year, 2012 we had 452 students who rushed to nearby Pizza Hut and had a great time!

Think, Spell & Create!

Spell It Right!

Benny Tan Miao Thong from 2B1 and Loh Siao Qian from 3D1 had  been selected to participate at the zone level for the Spell It Right competition. The competition was organized by Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah Pasir Gudang.

All the contestants were required to spell the words read by the panel of jury and then construct a sentence based on the words spelled.

Benny Tan Miao Thong won the second place and he represented the zone for the district level on 26th March 2012 at SMK Dato Penggawa Timur. He went for the final round and got 5^th place. It is a good try and congratulation from all of us!

The Day That We Wished It Never Happened.

ASEAN Quiz 2012 (Online Quiz) and Public Speaking Competition

On 22 March 2012, 7 students of SMK Taman Daya 2 had sit for the Online Quiz: ASEAN Quiz 2012. The simulation has been done on 20 March and the questions were very difficult .However the questions did not discourage them from participating the quiz. Unfortunately, the system was down and we were unable to log in for registration .So we could not participate in the competition.

On the same day, we sent Alan Tan Miao Thong from 5 Science 1 to participate in the Public Speaking Competition at SMK Taman Daya 3. Unfortunately, he did not win. 

We were very frustrated and disappointed but it was a good experience for all of us .

What a sad and stressful day….

We Believe You Can Fly!

We are proud to announce that the two students who went to the “Lawatan Bestari” (Refer to the previous post: A Week of a Priceless Experience!) at the SM Sains Kota Tinggi (SAKTI), Khoo Wei Joo and Nur Haziqah Binti Dato Maulizan (both from 5 Science 1) got flying colours in their SPM 2011!

A Week of a Priceless Experience!

A year ago, on April 2011, there were 20 students of 3KAA spent a week at SMKA Johor Bahru and another 23 students (from  3D1, 3D3, 5 Science 1 and 5 Science 2) went to SM Sains Kota Tinggi (SAKTI). They went there for “Lawatan Bestari” under the “Program Kecemerlangan Akademik” (Academic Excellence Programme) organized by the School Curriculum Unit. 

 

The purpose of the programme is to give them an experience on a life of boarding school students. They stayed a week, studied together and felt the environment. One of the main ideas of the programme is to enhance the level of motivation of the students before they sit for their PMR and SPM.

We are so proud to announce that 6 students who went to SMKA Johor Bahru for the propgramme are now furthering their study in form 4 at the same school! They are:
